Should I choose comma or semicolon as the separator?
In the US, UK and most of Asia, Excel expects commas. In much of Europe and Latin America, Excel expects semicolons. If your CSV opens with everything crammed into one column, just re-download with the other separator.
Why do some names or notes look garbled?
Older exports (especially from Outlook) sometimes use unusual character encodings. This tool automatically decodes quoted-printable and UTF-8, which covers the vast majority of VCF files from iPhone, Android, Gmail and iCloud.
